Angelo Santos is an award-winning short film Writer, Director and Producer. As a writer, his short script for Pamanhikan won Best Screenplay Short at the 2013 Vail Film Festival. Angelo went on to direct and executive produce Pamanhikan, which screened at film festivals in New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Miami, Portland, Honolulu, Boston, San Diego, and Seattle. Pamanhikan won the Audience Choice
Award at the 2016 Ithaca Pan-Asian American Film Festival, the Programmer’s Award at the 2016 Disorient Asian-American Film Festival of Oregon and Best LGBT Film at the 2016 Great Lakes International Shorts Festival. Pamanhikan was also nominated for Best Short Film at the 38th Asian-American International Film Festival. Angelo was featured in The Filipino Channel’s “Balitang America” segment when Pamanhhikan screened at the Philippine Consulate in New York City.
Angelo’s credits as a Producer include: Kissed By Season, which screened at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills, CA and was an official selection at the 2001 Sacramento Film and Music Festival and the 2001 New York International Film and Video Festival; Under the Harlem Moon, which won The Wasserman/King Award, 2nd Prize, at NYU’s 2005 First Run Film Festival; Holy Sapien; A Window to Our Dreams, which was directed by Grammy Award winning music video Producer Jason Baum; and My Brother’s Keeper, which was an official selection at the 31st Asian-American International Film Festival.
Angelo’s foray into television has been as a Production Coordinator on the Emmy nominated 14th season of Project Runway.
Angelo is a graduate of Rutgers University and completed UCLA Extension’s Making the Short Film Program.
He currently resides in Astoria, Queens in New York City.
